Beyond Housing/Golf Course

I was disappointed to see that Beyond Housing, a locally based community development organization is stepping outside their mission and buying a non performing golf course in Normandy. This Normandy County Club is now owned by the University of Missouri St. Louis. Beyond Housing is fundraising for this effort.

The idea is poor for servers reasons:

1. The economics of this golf club are poor. It would take millions to rehab it and membership has drastically fallen off.

2. Golf courses in general are not doing well due to covid and economic setbacks.

3. This is not the mission of Beyond Housing.

5. It will get in the way of other and more important fundraising opportunities.

I think the world of Chris Krehmeyer and his organization. They have done amazing work. In this case they have made a serious mistake. Written by Paul Dribin
